MICHAEL JOSEPH McANDREW (b abt 1828, near Crossmolina, Co. Mayo, Ireland) Married Jane Derry of County Derry (b abt 1829, Co. Derry, Ireland) Immigrated into Canada (possibly going to Hamilton, Ontario) about 1845 with one newborn, Bridget A. McAndrew. Traveled into Lewiston, NY, then down to Girardville, PA, where Michael worked the coal mines in Schuylkill County. He and Jane subsequently had: Thomas (abt 1849), we believe died in mining accident Arthur (abt 1851), we believe also died in mining accident Ellen (abt 1854) Annie F. (abt 1856) Jane (abt 1860) Michael J., Jr. (abt 1861) married Mary Anne Folliard of Girardville, PA, daughter of Patrick Folliard. Mary (abt 1863) George (abt 1866) Elizabeth G. (6 Jun 1872) married James Edward McGee, Jr (B 3 Dec 1872-PA) and moved to Philadelphia. Parents Michael Joseph and wife Jane (Derry) McAndrew are buried in Girardville, PA in St. Joseph’s Cemetery (OLD section).
PATRICK FRANK McANDREW/S (b abt 1830, near Crossmolina, Co. Mayo, Ireland) Immigrated into Canada (possibly went to Ontario for awhile), date unknown Married Agnes (maiden name unknown) of Canada (b abt 1838). Moved to Pennsylvania and became the Clerk, Mining Inspector's Office and helped pen the Report of the Inspectors of Mines 1869 (http://files.usgwarchives.net/pa/schuylkill/history/local/mining/1869.txt ) Family has this volume w/autograph by this gg-Uncle Patrick F. McAndrew. Owned homes in Pottsville, PA on Coal St (st. now called Terry Reilly Way) Had the following children: Frank McAndrew (b abt 1859) Robert McAndrew (b abt 1862) Edward McAndrew (b abt 1864) Elizabeth McAndrew (b abt 1865) Patrick ended his employment in the mining inspector’s office around 1875, at which time he stops appearing in the Pottsville City Directory.
