I don't know that I'll be adding much to your discussion about James/William/John MCBEE who were born in the 1820s & 1830s, but I did want to mention that in the 1812 voter/tax list in Franklin Co. TN, there were the following MCBEE men: Samuel - this is my Elder Samuel MCBEE who was born 1785 in Pendleton District SC.I believe he was in Franklin Co. Georgia in 1805, where he witnessed a deed.He was first married to Ellender STANDRIDGE of Pendleton District, and after she died in Marion Co. TN, he married Mrs. Millea (Maxwell) FRANCIS, widow of Josiah FRANCIS.A STANDRIDGE in-law - Alexander - was also in Franklin Co. GA, and then is just 2 places away from Samuel on this Franklin Co. TN tax list.
William Senior - I'm really wondering if this could be the father of all the other men shown here.I have no other info on him.If the voter list was taken by residence, then he is just 2 doors away from Samuel.
James - I suspect this is the same man who shows up later in Coffee Co. TN - he was born about 1789 in SC also.I suspect he was a brother to my Samuel. He named children William, Matthias, Mary, Obediah. He's listed about 12 places beyond Samuel.
William - I suspect this is the brother to my Samuel. This William married Rebecca BRANHAM; he died 1839 in Jackson Co. AL according to pension records.Samuel gave testimony for his widow.
Jesse - he's listed next to William. This is the man who married Leah BEENE/BEAN and moved to Calhoun Co. AL, where he died in 1842; he was born about 1790.I think he was a brother to Samuel. His descendants moved to Cass/Cherokee Co. TX where some of Samuel's family moved.
John - I don't know anything else about him.He was obviously born before about 1791 in order to appear on this tax list (assuming men had to be 21 to be on there).
I hope there is something in all this that will help someone. If anyone can help with the unknowns, I sure would appreciate it.
