To start with Rev. Thomas McCalmont his 4th son Robert McCalmont (1st Robert in line) born abt. 1677 in Antrim, Ireland and died 27 Aug. 1751.
Robert (II), son of Robert (I) was born abt 1720 in Ireland,
He was the 1st one I can fine useing McCalmant as a last name.
He was the master of the ship "James of Larne". in March 1773 he went from Ayr, Scotland to Larne, Ireland. He came to the U. s. a. between Mar. 1773 and March 1778. with his son Robert (III). When his son Robert (III) was in service in Cumberland County, Penn. March 1778.
Robert (III) in the American Genealogical-Biographical Indexlisted him as born 175? Penn.
1790 census he is listen as Robert McCumin.
1800 census he is listed as Robert Mccomon.
1810 Census he is listed as Robert Mcconnon.
1820 Census he is listed as Robert Mccammin (Unknown)
1830 Census he is listed as Robt Mcammery.
1840 Census he is listed as Robert Mccalment.
