Subject:a connection for you?
Surname: McCann, McGlone

To John McCann - Tyrone GenWeb
John, first, my Henry McCann married Molly McGlone in Dungannon area, Drumglass
Parish, Co. Tyrone -date unknown. They had two daughters at least and likely
a son or two. The names: Elizabeth McCann (Dungannon area) who married
Tom Hopkins, then sailed off to Australia around 1822, and Margaret McCann,
my grgrgrandmother, who m. Thomas Whitfield on June 21, 1834 in Drumglass
Catholic Parish. They and their children left for Australia in 1844.
Secondly, while in Dungannon in May, I had not yet discovered where my
Henry McCann came from. I believe he was from Lowertown, down Killyman
Rd. towards Killyman. A Henry McCann is listed in Killeman in the 1796
Flax Seed List, and again in the Tithe Applotment Record of 1829. There
are other McCanns and McGlones there in 1829 and later, as well. A Phlemy
(Philip) shared the same land/house as Henry in 1829. Lissen Parish has
a Hugh and a John McCann in 1796. Edward McCann is listed in Clonfeacle
Parish. Killeman is adjacent (So.) of Killeman and Lissen is far north
of Killeman and Cookstown, five parishes away. These are civil parishes.
I suspect your ancestors are connected to mine and the Clonfeacle ones,
also. Families grouped together. One of those men could have been the father
and the others his grown sons.
I met a Mercy Sister in the town of Dungannon whose name was Philomena
McGlone whose family came from Cookstown. She has a Mercy nun sister in
the Cookstown Convent. What are the names of your father, grandfather and
grgrandfather? As your McCanns married into the McGlone family later, possibly
Sr. Philomena's line is more directly connected with yours. Do you want
her address? Email me for it. At any rate, letÃs keep in touch. Happy Findings!
And a blessed Christmas! Joan"
