Peter McCart my grandfather had 4 wives. He settled in Bakersfied CA in 1880.He homesteaded 160 acres in Crezzo Plain and became a cattle rancher. His first wife died at the ranch. His second wife died during child birth at the ranch. His first and second wife and the child are all burried at the Carezzo Plan ranch. His third wife, my grandmother refused to go to the ranch. Can't blame her.She raised 4 kids in Bakersfield while my grandfather tended the ranch. She eventually left my grandfather over the ranch and took the kids, my father, to San Francisco. She died two years later. The 4 kids all returned to Bakersfield to be with my grandfather. With the help of his oldest daughter, my aunt Florence, raised all the kids.
