I'm searching for information on Elizabeth Pearl Young McCaughtry Ratzow, her husbands, and son(s).
She was born Elizabeth Pearl Young in Oct 1880 in Dakota to Henry Harrison Young and Susanna Elizabeth Badger Young. Her family was from the Enon Valley, Lawrence County area of Pennsylvania. She was born when her parents briefly lived in the Dakota area. They then returned to Enon Valley, where Elizabeth grew up.
In the 1900 census, Elizabeth is listed as Pearl McCaughtry, married to William McCaughtry (born about Dec 1850 in PA) and living in Big Beaver, Lawrence, Pennsylvania. They have a son, Glen William McCaughtry, born about Feb 1898 in PA.Their marriage year is listed as 1896.I'm not sure if they were really married or just living together, but the census lists them as married.
In 1910, Elizabeth Pearl's son Glen is listed as living with her parents, Henry and Susanna, in Little Beaver, Lawrence, Pennsylvania.I can't find a census for Elizabeth Pearl for 1910.
In the 1920 census, she is living in Toledo Ward 3, Lucas, Ohio with husband Louis William Ratzow (born Sep 5 1891 in Milwaukee, WI and died Jan 27 1960 in Toledo, OH).Again, I don't know if they were really married or just living together.Louis's death certificate states he was never married. Also, she returned to Enon Valley alone; so either they divorced, separated, or were never really married to begin with.
She may have had another son with Louis, named Billy.Or Billy could just be a nickname for Glen William McCaughtry.
Elizabeth Pearl died in 1925 in Enon Valley, Lawrence Co., PA of syphilis. She is buried near her parents in Little Beaver Cemetery, Enon Valley, PA but has no headstone.
I do know that at one point she ran away to Chicago with a salesman--that could have been Ratzow, but not sure.It probably happened between 1900 and 1920, which is why her son probably lived with his grandparents.
I can't find any information on her son Glen past his WWI draft papers.Glen living in Toledo, OH at the time of the draft.
Elizabeth Pearl's siblings are Charles Jefferson Young, Jesse Clarence Young, Frank Roy Young, and Harry Harrison Young.
