Hello my name is Alexander Scott and my paternal great great grandmother was a Mary McChesney from Glasgow Scotland.
Her parents wereAlexander McChesney and Elizabeth Forsyth/McChesney.
I'm looking for possible relatives of Alexander McChesney, or American born McChesneys with unknown family linage living between or residing in the states of Michigan or Kansas (technically anywhere near that too).
Specifically family of Elizabeth McChesney, Jeanie McChesney, and Franklin Redsman McChesney. These 3 people literally disappear and I'm not sure what became of them during the American Civil War.
A shot in the dark honestly.

My McChesney mystery originates from unfortunate circumstances during the American Civil War.
Alexander McChesney fought in the American Civil War with the 1st Michigan Cavalry from October 30th of 1863 until the time of his death in 1873. He was stationed at Fort Leavenworth KS and the territories after the surrender of Lee.
Alexander's wife Elizabeth passed on in the US during the civil war. Then Alexander too also grew terminally ill; I believe while at Fort Leavenworth KS, the American government recommended Alexander to leave his children in soldiers orphanage and return to Scotland for better medical care. Terminally ill Alex took the government's advice and did return to Scotland only to pass on.
I'm now searching for these 3 missing children and hoping to find descendants and learn more of the puzzle.
For those curious to Alexander's background, I do know Alexander McChesney's parents were a John McChesney and a Jean McMillan/McChesney from Belfast Ireland. The McChesney family moved from Ireland into Scotland at an unknown time before 1850 and had a large family. The kids being Alexander, Solomon, Mary, Jean, Margaret and Agnes McChesney.
Elizabeth Forsyth's parents were David Forsyth and Catherine Reid/Forsyth.
