McClaskey/McCloskey/Maclaskey in IL, NY
These are the children of George (b. about 1816 in New York) and Barbara (Sweet) Maclaskey (b. about 1822 in Rensslaer Co., NY) also spelled (McClaskey) and(McCloskey). They are as follows:
Sarah (no birth date) died in young womanhood
Melissa (b. Feb. 15, 1844 Pike Cty. Ill.)(married William J. Evans on March 8, 1866 in Kingston, Adams Cty. Ill.)settled in Nebraska
Mary (b. around 1843 Barry, Pike Cty. Ill.) (married Jacob C. Farmer on Feb. 14, 1864 in Adams Cty. Ill.)
George K. (b. Nov. 27, 1847 in Barry, Pike Cty. Ill.)(married Mary E. McCarl on Aug. 4, 1869 in Pike Cty. Ill.)moved to Missouri and had two daugters, Effie and Bessie, both died within two weeks of one another from diptheria.
James W. (b. April 14, 1849 in Barry, Pike Cty. Ill.)(married Sarah E. McCarl (sister to Mary McCarl)on either Nov. 4 or Oct. 26, 1869 in Adams Cty. Ill.)settled in Woodson county Kansas and had 8 children.
Andrew Thomas or Thomas Andrew (no birth date)He was a bachelor and was a railroad engineer and died in Denver, CO.
Ira (b. about 1854 in Pike Cty. Ill.)(may have married Ida A. Basford in 1879 in Kendall Ill.)He was a railroad man and lived in Kansas City, KS
Ida (no birth date)(married Dr. David Rice in Adams Cty. Ill. on Oct. 10, 1880)
These are all the children I know of that were born to George and Barbara Maclaskey (McCloskey)
Any info on any of these names, especially George Maclaskey would be helpful as he was supposedly orphaned along with a sister, Mary, in New York and later migrated to Pike County, Illinois with the Ira Sweet Family.
