Either Bryan (or Bryant) or Nathan McClendon was likely the father of my Frances (McClendon) Pulliam. Frances was born ca 1790 in North Carolina, married ca 1807 to Alsey Pulliam, and located in the following censuses: 1820 Madison Co IL, 1830 Franklin Co MO, 1840 Platte Co MO, 1850 Collin Co TX. Frances had a daughter, Luvina or Leatha (she was called by both names) Merrick (Pulliam) (Alvis) (Dial) (King) Cavender. Luvina was married for the first time in Lawrence Co TN in 1827 to James W Alvis.
Bryan McClendon was in Lawrence Co TN on an 1818 Voters List and in the 1820 census, then Crawford Co MO in 1830, married there #2, 23 Dec 1832, in 1840 in Buchanan Co MO, next to Jesse McLendon, then in 1850 in Andrew Co MO, 75 NC with Elizabeth, 65 NC. He was a cooper. Was Bryan Frances's brother, uncle or father?
Also in Lawrence Co in 1818 was Nathan McClendon, who signed a bond along with John A Hail and James P Crawford in 1827, Lawrence Co TN. This is a definite connection between James W Alvis's first cousin, his brother-in-law and a probable relative of his mother-in-law. Nathan was a Justice of the Peace and was still in Lawrence Co TN in 1830. A younger Nathan McClendon, born 1796 in NC, was married there in 1832 and is still there in the 1840 and 1850 censuses.
Any information on these people will be welcome. Kathy Patterson
