Joan, This will be rather lengthy, so please bear with me.First, I was raised in East Grand Forks, MN.My mother, who was orphaned when 8 days old, was raised by William Alexander "Alex" and Margaret Jane (nee Brown) Lammey of that city.Grandpa "Alex" Lammey was the son of William Lemmay (1833-1913) and Margaret McClinchy (1837-1934).(I have Margaret's death certificate.)William was buried in Orangeville, ONT and Margaret is in Grand Forks, ND.Margaret McClinchy Lemmay was the daughter of William McClinchy and Eleanor McFarland.(Other McClinchy descendants are also buried in Grand Forks, ND.
Alex and Margaret Lammey have a grandson, Burt, who married Elenore Neil. She is the great-great-granddaughter of William Neil and Suzannah McClinchy.
When Burt and Elenore first announced their engagement, Grandma Lammey (Margaret Brown Lammey) was rather surprised and stated that they were cousins. Now, when it came to family, Grandma Lammey (Margaret Brown Lammey) rarely forgot anything. In fact, she kept scrapbooks full of obituaries, wedding announcements, correspondence, etc.Unfortunately, those scrapbooks were lost in the 1997 Red River Valley Flood.(I didn't even know about those books until after the flood...sigh.)
It is based largely upon this anecdotal evidence (always a dangerous thing, to be sure) that I concluded Suzannah McClinchy and William McClinchy were the children of Henry. You apparently have the "smoking gun" that proves Suzannah and William were, indeed, siblings.I would be most interested in the sources proving that Suzannah, William and Margaret were siblings and the children of Henry.
You mentioned not having researched the Neils.Ruby McCannell published a book in 1995 (revised in 2002) on the descendants of William Neil and Suzannah McClinchy. There might still be copies and I can put you in touch with Ruby, but I'd prefer not to post her email here.Contact me offlist if you have an interest.
In the book's forward, Ruby states, "At the time of printing, I have not found any documents to confirm that Susannah and William McClinchy were siblings, but some of my sources believe they were."I expect that Ruby would also be interested in the data you have.
As for the descendants of Margaret (nee McClinchy) and William Lemmay (Lama/Lammey/Lamma), I have much data here.If you have an interest, I'd certainly be willing to exchange data with you as we both apparently data the other does not.
