I am hoping that someone can help me prove or disprove a theory concerning James B. Mcclinton. The 1850 Shelby Co., Alabama census shows James B. McClinton, 39 NC; Catherine, 28 AL; James B., 19 AL; Nathan V., 16 AL; Mary A., 14 AL; Dwilly / Drury K., 7 AL; William M., 5 AL; Lucinda M., 2 AL, and Emiline 1/12 AL.
Shelby Co. AL marriage records show that James B. McClinton married Catherine Morrison 12 August 1841 and later married Elizabeth J. Horton 14 Dec. 1853.
Noticing the seven year gap between children Mary and Drury is it possible that James McClinton's first wife was Clarissa Primm? According to her father's will on file in Shelby Co., Clarissa married a McClinton. James McClinton in the 1840 census is possibly her husband. The first child, James, is possibly named for Clarissa's father, Nathan after her brother, and Mary after her mother.
Can anyone provide information either to prove or disprove this theory? Are there any descendants who know the name of James, Nathan, and Mary's mother?Any help would be appreciated.I can share information concerning Clarissa's parents and siblings.
