Hello Raymond,
Sorry it took me so long to respond.I did see this earlier and was excited to get this information. The time and place are right --- but my great grandmother's last name was McAlinden and she lists her father's name as Patrick McAlinden, a grocer from Brickland. Now -- if the last names were switched - Peter McAlinden and Mary McClory -- that would fit better but I'm not sure theses are my great grandparents. It does look like these two families are probably related though.
I have started looking thru church records for the surrounding areas but haven't got very far yet.I just haven't had time to work on it.
Thank you so much for your information.I will keep looking and post any findings.
My McCourt family was from Banbridge and surrounding area.My grandfather's brother Henry and his descendants had a store on Dromore street for years and years -- going back to the very early 1900's if not later. My grandfather's name was David McCourt (1860-1935).He also had brothers named Michael, Hugh, and 2 sisters, Eliza Jane, and Mary.He may also have had brothers named John and Peter -- not sure on those two.My great grandparents were Hugh McCourt and Ann Jane Byrns.
Again -- thanks so much for your help!
