Elizabeth, I am also very interested in family history. My grandfather was also Patrick McCluskey, married Mary Anne Sheridan in 1928. My g-grandfather's name was Michael McCluskey and was married to Mary Crossan. I can determine from census records I have gotten from County Cavan that Michael would have been in his 50's (if the numbers are right) in 1901. Michael and Mary had three children, John, Patrick and Mary and by the 1911 census he was dead and she had remarried. The all come from the county in Ireland I noted above, although from various voting districts. On his baptismal certificate, Patrick's address is shown as Knockabawn. Also, Mary Sheridan's (my grandmother) mother is supposed to have come from Monaghan before her marriage. You are the first McCluskey who I have responded to that has recent Irish ties (you were born in the same year as my brother Thomas). Hopefully your father is still living and maybe some of this information will sound familiar to him. When I mention my last name to Irish natives they tell me is has Scottish roots so I find it interesting you were born there. Family lore has it that my grandfather's sister married a Scottsman and that is the last she was discussed. I never believed in her existance until I received a copy of the census. If any of this is helpful to you or sounds familiar, please let me know. Also, do the names, as they relate to McCluskey, of Crossan or Connolly sound familiar?
