Hello Gavin, Thank you for responding to my query. It is exciting to hear from you. I am related to the Wiseman line, but also your ancestor Elizabeth Marshall who md Gavin McColl, had a sister Sarah Marshall who md a son ( James Hamilton) of my 3rd great grandparents, James Hamilton and Janet Fleming. I find that my family was in Strathaven many many generations and married into most of the family names there. Thank you for sending the cemetery record. I did go through the Strathaven cemetery on two visits, but at that time, hadnt established a connection to the McColls. I did not know of the second William.I have 11 May 1851 for the death of Janet Wiseman. I got it from the par reg burials so it is probably the bur record as the death is recorded as the 8th on the tombstone.
I have acquired the will of Gavin Wiseman md to Jean easton who was the father of Janet Wiseman.....your direct line.I would be glad to share it with you if you do not have it. My 4ggfather was Robert Wiseman of Goodsburn farm who was md to Lillias Todd 1788. They raised most of their family in Strathaven except their first dau Lillias b 1789 at Glasgow. Have you heard of them? I am trying to connect them to some of the earlier Wisemans as Robert would have been born around 1766. He was from Glasgow md Lillias there and lived in Strathaven all his life.
For Hugh McColl and Janet Wiseman I have a Jean McColl b 22 Nov 1828, Avondale, Angus McColl b 1831, Gavin 1832 (is that right?) Mary 21 Jan 1833, Christina 1835, John 1836, William 1837 died 17 Jun 1846, Hugh 1839, James 1841 who md Mary Fleming. Can you confirm any of these birthdates?
