I did some research and found that Hugh F. MacColl was born Feb. 22, 1885 and married Margery....(no last name given) They had daughter Margret K.
He was a well known American composer (Hugh F.) and Harvard University established in 1954 a music scholarship in his name. Many have benefited from the scholarships. ..given as a prize for accomplishment.
There is a picture of James Roberton MacColl on p. 269 if anyone is interested. I could copy it and mail it...don't know how to load it into this web site.
This is not my McColl's but hope it helps someone else hoping to sort out the many "Hugh" McColl/MacColl.
