Interesting! My parents visited Lahaina on Maui in Hawaii in the 1960's where they met John and Gratia McConkey, now deceased. Lahaina is a former whaling port. John was descended from a missionary named McConkey and was likely related to the Dr. D.W. McConkey named in the article. John and Gratia had two sons. I recall that one was nick-named 'Hey Mac'. I heard that 'Hey Mac' had joined the US forces (the US Navy if I recall correctly) and moved to Florida. The McConkeys had a home on the beach on Maui but the land was developed for a hotel or condominiums. This branch of the McConkey family was a part of early Maui history.
