I don't believe this diary is of the same William McConnell b.1780 NY d. 1863 Lagrange, Lorain, OH and was NOT a War of 1812 veteran to the best of my knowledge. He & family moved to OH after 1830-1840 and the family lived in Lagrange.Mr. McConnell's autobiography identifies himself as a Justice of the Peace with extensive public service. He was born a cripple and surgery in the late 1700s surgically corrected some unidentified crippling disability but it is questionable whether it was corrected well enough to allow military service. He also had multiple children born during the years of 1810-1815.I have put multiple links on his ancestry.com page.
