Donald,
It is sometime since your posting but here is information on another McCosh family from Ballycloughan, Broughshane.
Joseph McCosh son of David McCosh married Mary Jane Petticrew daughter of John Petticrew of Carncoagh at 1st Presbyterian Church Broughshane November 1859.Joseph and Mary Jane had one son that I know of David McCosh born June 1866.The 1901 Census has Mary Jane born ca. 1831 and her son David, unmarried, living Ballycloughan with brother-in-law James B. McCosh born ca. 1818 also unmarried and nephew James McCosh born ca. 1866. Joseph is not mentioned. They were farming, all born Co. Antrim and Presbyterian.
I have not been able to find the family in the 1911 Census.
On the marriage cert. Joseph records his occupation as 'Relief Officer of Poor' which I'm guessing would be working for the 'Poor Law Board' involved in allocating relief to the poor of the area.
If you have any knowledge of this McCosh family I would appreciate hearing from you.
Rosalie Gordon
