St. Charles (Kane County, Illinois) Chronicle, Aug. 23, 1901, Local News. The Eastern Star lawn party at the home of Mark Kelley Tuesday evening was a most enjoyable affair. There was a large crowd present, and all seemed to enjoy themselves. A platform had been built for dancing and B.F. McCosh on the violin and a harpist from Chicago discoursed sweet music. Ice cream and cake were served from small tables. The receipts were $36, about $15 of which was clear profit. Visitors were present from Elgin, Geneva, Batavia and West Chicago, thirty-one coming from the last named place. (Posted as a courtesy, not related.)
