Graves in Limestone Co, Tx
There are 3 graves that I found in Oak Island Presbyterian Cemetery at end of 924 (turn left) off 925 (turn left) off Hwy 84 (going north) between Mexia and Teague, Texas. Mexia is Limestone County. Teague is Freestone County. One stone says Catherine McCracken, born 8-7=1818, died 2-7=1887, Aged 88 yrs 10 mo.
The stone next to it says E. A. McCracken born 12-27-18?6.(I cannot positively read the number before 6) died age 6? yrs 9 mo. 12 days.I also mcould not positively read the number here, but am sure it was sixty-something. The next stone says H. Clay McCracken son of E.A. and Catherine born 8-24-1854, died 7-4-1868 age 13 yrs 11 mo 14 days. The next stones are Kennedy names. These stones are locate3d at the south end of the cemetery and are upright so I presume they are in their original places. Many of the stones are broken and were accidently moved years ago when someone tried to mow the cemetery with a brushhog and couldn't see the stones because of vines and overgrowth. Other names in this cemetery are Steele, Means, Patterson, Gibson, Balch, Oliver, Patton,Blackmore, Ross,Warren, Robinson, Alexander, McChord, Adamson, MannsMarney, and Riddle. I cannot find a listing of names in this cemetery on the internet. If you find it, please let me know so I can get a copy. Thanks, Judy Gipson Ross [email protected]
