It was only after I posted the message that I suddenly remembered seeing your name and went back to Waldo's history,which I have only recently found, and duly saw you mentioned.I was a bit slow!
Waldo asserts that your ancestor was Walter McCrea who came to Ireland with Abercorn in 1610 and settled near Strabane, County Tyrone, Ulster (one of the four Irish provinces). My forbears the McCreas of Ballyheather, in Donagheady parish, about five miles from Strabane, share the same tradition, with Walter as our first Irish settler.
There are other clues in Waldo's record linking your family with mine, including early marriages with the Simson and Holmes families and the use of the same Christian names.
In his foreward, Waldo states his intention of including only Samuel's descendants to the third generation and hence he does not include himself.
