Thanks for your quick response.I have very little on the McCready family, only where they tied in with my Nelson research. But you are welcome to what I have found:
Azariah Nelson, 1828-1871, Crisfield, MD married Mary Catherine McCready (May 20, 1830 - December 22, 1917) on July 10, 1849, Crisfield, MD. Their son, James Wesley Nelson - Founder of Del Monte canned products, born in Crisfield. Source:Lt. Col.Woodrow T. Wilson book titled "Thirty Four Families of Old Somerset County, Maryland (1974) by Gateway Press, Inc. Baltimore, MD.
James Wesley Nelson not only founded the Del Monte products, he was mayor of Oakland, California. (Rebecca Pulley on this list).
My line comes in with another son, Winfield Scott Nelson, who was Captain of a sailing schooner in Crisfield, MD.
Book, Crisfield, the First Century, by Jason Rhodes, p. 46.Edward W. McCready Memorial Hospital. On September 13, 1919, Crisfield native and wealthy cork industrailist Edward W. McCready; his eight-year-old daughter Suzanne; and Suzanne's nurse, Margaret Steinbeck, were killed in an automobile-train collision in Westover en route to their home in Chicago. While doctors at the General and Marine Hospital were unable to save them, McCready's wife, Caroline, vowed to repay their kindness. She did so by building a new $200,000 hospital in her husband's memory, dedicated in May 1923 on Hall Highway.
I'm not sure where Edward W. McCready is related to Mary Catherine McCready Nelson.I have more information on the Nelson family, but that's all I have on McCready family at this point.Any other info would be greatly appreciated.I do have a picture of the new hospital if you'd like a copy of it.
