Dear Lawrence - I saw your posting and note your interest in the family of Angus John, in New Zealand. Bety Iggo, who now lives in Edinburgh is a professional genealogist with whom I have been acquainted for a good many years. She descends from Angus John! We have managed to compile quite a record of her family and that of Denis MCurdy from Wigan, who was Aloysius (Angus) John's brother. A Maureen Sawbridge has managed ot pull otgether most of his descendants, or at leat has provided some information in poulling this together. There aer some old letters, which detail the family genealogy back to the names which Andy McCready has menitoned, but it lacks a little detail; they were catholics from the Glens area of County Antrim, and records for the Catholic Church, from this period are not too complete! That said, we understand that both came from large families, but interest has been focused upon these particular lineal lines of descent!
Can I take it that you are a conection of this family also?
I should be interst in learning of your specfici connection, and of adding this detail in with that which I presently have. I am also happy to copy you in on that which I have also if that would be of help!
I have focused a lot of my research heere in Ireland on probate records, as this is a very good source I find for tying various lines togther and for confirming the generational relationships (however most extant probate records in Ireland only date from about 1858!)
Hoping to hear from you
Kind regards
