GANTER, MARY ELIZABETH (nee McDevitt), age 54, of Phila., died peacefully on Sept. 25, 2006, surrounded by her family at Northeastern Hospital in Port Richmond. Mary was the beloved wife of Robert Ganter and loving stepmother of Jennifer Rose (Edward). She was the loving daughter of Regina T. (nee Kerrigan) and the late Joseph J. McDevitt. She was a wonderful friend and sister to Barbara Detreux (Francis), Joseph (Diane), Daniel (Anne), Gerald (Mary) and Regina Hopp (Robert): sister-in-law to Marion Ganter, James (Margaret) and Theresa Nulty (Richard) and daughter-in-law of Raymond Marcinek. Mary was a 1969 graduate of Hallahan High School and worked for the City of Phila. Library System for 29 years. Complications with diabetes and breast cancer made it difficult to continue to work. Mary will always be remembered for her generosity and love for her family, especially her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She enjoyed taking them on outings, buying for them and just being surrounded by them. In her spare time, Mary also enjoyed making ceramics, firing and finishing pieces. She would donate them to Church affairs or make specialty pieces for her family. Mary loved to shop and buy for everyone she knew and will be sadly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Viewing Thursday eve, 7 until 9 P.M., and Friday, 8 until 9:15 A.M., THE REILLY FUNERAL HOME, 2632 E. Allegheny Ave. Funeral Mass, 10 A.M., Church of St. Joachim, with Interment to follow in Resurrection Cem. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Joachim Church, Maintenance Fund, 1527 Church St., Phila. 19124. Published in the Philadelphia Inquirer & Philadelphia Daily News on 9/27/2006.
