When Ducan(Darby) found the marriage record for (Deaf) Alex and Janet Cameron, which listed his parents as John MacDonell and Catherine MacDonell, he guessed that his father was (Spanish) John as he was married to a Catherine MacDonell. I recently aquired a book, edited by Valerie Verity from Pointe Fortune, and associated with the McDonell_Williamson House, which lists the letters of correspondance between members of Spanish John's family. These letters were copied from the Ontario archives. In a letter dated 16th March 1800 written by Spanish John to his son John, then at Original Portage,he writes "Allick burgh the King's son who died by the fall of a tree last fall." I Googled Duncan (Darby) to get his email address, so as to get the record corrected, but instead found Duncan(Darby's)obit. I believe that the "King" MacDonells are also referred to as "Bui" MacDonells and I am trying to get more details on this family as I found that I am not a descendant of Spanish John but instead of this family refered to as "King" MacDonell.
