My great-grandmother was born Nora McEachern, in 1889, in or near the town of Mandan, in what was then the Dakota Territory (later the state of North Dakota).
Somehow, she made her way to Los Angeles and married Leo F. Maloney, a native of Los Angeles. They had four children: Robert (born 1907), Homer (a.k.a. "Pat"), Mildred, and Francis (a.k.a. "Pete") Maloney.
Leo died in 1921, and Nora moved to the desert area east of Los Angeles. Soon thereafter Nora remarried a man named McInerney. They had a son, Thomas McInerney.
A devout Catholic, Nora was devoted to her family and they to her.She lived her later years near the beach in Los Angeles (Hermosa Beach, in particular), and died in 1950, with her children at her side, praying the Holy Rosary.
I made a trip to North Dakota in 1992 and used their generally excellent archives, but could finds nothing related to Nora McEachern or any McEacherns in North Dakota or the Dakota Territory for the period of the late 1880s or early 1890s.
Does anyone have a line on Nora McEachern, 1889-1950, and any members of the McEachern family related to a Nora of this period, or with relations in the Los Angeles/Southern California area from 1900 to 1950?
