Another Daniel McElyea researcher and I have a problem in Daniel's family. It seems that there were two Elizabeth McElyea and both were born about the same time. Both families have passed on stories which are practically identical about having family in AR, where the family came from in TN, etc. However, no one can find proof on either to say that her father was Daniel F. McElyea who married twice. This creates a problem for the ancestral line of both on the McElyea side.I've contacted a more closer related cousin to see if he has additional information on my Elizabeth McElyea.I'm hoping that I'll be able to find a death certificate or obituary or possibly a family bible with information that will solve this mystery. In the meantime I'm also trying to find more information (new and in my 20 years of research files).
Also from my message you can see why I'm thinking that there may have been two Daniel McElyea's.One could have been a nephew or the son of a cousin. It seemed that the children of John and Sarah McElyea (see below) went off into various places.John and Sarah moved to Orange Co IN with some of their children while the others remained in TN.John died in Orange Co IN.Once again some of the kids remained there in Orange Co while Sarah and the ones who had moving on their minds went to Clay Co IL where Sarah died in 1855.Last time I was at the cemetery where she is buried her gravestone was still quite legible considering it's limestone and it's age.
Here's the ancestral line for Daniel F. McElyea as I have it -
son of Humphrey McElyea and unknown wife
grandson of John McElyea and Sarah Boone
great-grandson of Patrick Henry McElyea and Hannah; Hezekiah Boone and Rebecca Freelove
great-great-grandson of Laughlin McElyea and Mary Powers (both born Ireland - she Dublin; he county Galway); George Boone IV and Deborah Howell
great-great-great-grandson of William Powers and Phyllis Dennison; George Boone III and Mary Milton Maugridge (immigrated from Bradninch, Devonshire, England with their 8 children sometime after 1711; also were the grandparents of American history pioneer Daniel Boone)
great-great-great-great-grandson of George Boone II and Sarah Uppey; John Mogridge and Mary Milton
great-great-great-great-great-grandson of George Boone I and Catherine Morgan or Ann Fallace; John Milton and unknown wife
Hope this helps in some way.I'd be interested in getting your ancestral line to Daniel as something may be there that will be of some help with trying to solve the mysteries of him and his descendants.
