Hello, my name is Earl MacFarland (email@example.com)I think I can say that I am an expert on the line of Daniel McFArland (died 1738 Worcester) and his son James McFarland of Brunswick Maine (whose deces, Robert McFarland, removed to Grand MAnan abt 1806). The Alpheus you mention, is my great grandfather, always claimed he was born in Freeport, but I think he was a "wetback", as he was probably born on Grand MAnan Island, as was his father. The only way that I can see that he may have been born in Eastport is if it was a difficult preg and his father James McFarland took Harriett to Eastport for medical reasons. Alpheus McFarland and Jennie Ehler McFarland did live in Gloucester at one time, in fact he had 2 houses there, one of which he gave to his daughter.
The 2 lines, to my knowledge are not related...however as I have had my DNA done I would love to see the DYS markers for a male in that line, so I could compare them...there is always the remote possibility that they are related...and as my markers are very different from a "real" MacFArlane, it would be very easy to see the difference.
