Thanks to the double enumeration of Manhattan in 1870, it is now certain that Charles was born in NYC in Oct 1870.

I can trace Patrick through 1884, but no further. He bought a plot in Calvery Cemetery, but is not buried there. Haven’t located his death certificate either. There are multiple passenger lists which fit his birth, but no way to know which if any is his. So I don’t really have any clue about where he came from in Ireland. Your findings will help if I ever get any more information.
