William McGarrah died in Tallapoosa County, Alabama around 1845. His wife was Mary and she re-married Augustine Rowell. William and Mary McGarrah had two children, Leroy and Minter. The copies of the legal records I have from Tallapoosa County concerning William’s death are related to a dispute over ownership of some land owned by William McGarrah at the time of his death. The handwriting of the person that wrote the documents is difficult to read and I am not sure of the spelling of “Minter” in the documents. It could be Mintey or Minties in lieu of Minter. The Rowells and Leroy McGarrah moved on to Greensboro, Webster County, Mississippi.I am not sure what happened to Minter, but it reasonable to assume she migrated to Webster County, Mississippi with the Rowells or some other relatives.
If you are sure that the birth date, 8/10/51, for Arminda/Arminta/Armanda/Amanda McGarrah is correct, then she cannot be the Minter/Mintey/Minties McGarrah I have information on because she was born after William McGarrah died in 1845.I am trying to find out more information about William McGarrah and his wife Mary or any information about the McGarrahs in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. If you have anything that might be helpful, I would appreciate the information.
