I'm looking for andditional information on John McGarity born approx 1807 in county Tyrone - particularly regarding parents/siblings in Ireland.
Details that we know:
John McGarrity was brought to Sydney as a convict on the Ship "Morley" 491/2 tons on 3.3.1828 having left Dublin, Ireland on 3.11.1827 with 192 male prisoners.John was assigned to Dr. George Wentworth, "Greendale", Bringley for 7 years. His name when in Ireland was spelt McGarrity. It was misspelt on his ticket of leave & on his Certificate of freedom in Australia as "McGarity". His ticket of leave also captured his "native place" as Tyrone and he was tried for his offence (stealing clothes) at Armagh 19 March 1827. John McGarity was 27 years of age when he finished the seven years labour at Bringelly, NSW and became a free man.He later married Margaret No(w)lan (female convict) and had 2 children - Joseph (1845) and Ann (1847) and lived around Ironbarks, NSW where he worked as a miner.
