Thanks for the follow up. I know absolutely nothing about Thomas McGhee except what you are telling me now.
I do know that in 1870 Micajah was listed in the census taken at Enterprise, Clarke County, MS. This is where a lot of very early settlers came from Cheraw, SC. They were mainly members of the Powe and Chapman families.
I decend from William Powe who with his brother Alexander and his sister Mary Livonia Powe Falconer, came in a large party of settlers with all of their family, many members of the extended family and a lot of slaves to Wayne Co., Mississippi in 1811. I have a transcription of the letter from the Governor of Georgia giving them permission to transit the territory.
Three generations later Julius Alexander Powe married Susan McGhee in Morengo Co., AL. She was the daughter of Micajah McGhee and Mary Jordan (probably pronounced "Jerden").
