Thanks for writing! I don't know much about the McGehee/McGee connection to my family but I'd sure love to know more. Both Andrew McGehee and George McGehee, who married my great-aunts on the Lowry side (see marriage records below), were born in IL around the same era as your James Pyrant McGee. Not sure if there is a connection between your McGee and these McGehee folks or not. Here are the folks I'm searching for:
Eliza Lowry married Andrew McGehee, Oct. 23, 1849 (daughter of John and Rachael Lowery), Shawneetown, Gallatin County, IL
(Rachael) Levina Lowry married George McGehee, Aug. 18, 1859, (daughter of John and Rachael Lowery), Shawneetown, Gallatin County, IL
On the 1860 Gallatin County, IL census: McGehee, George, age 26, born IL (Rachael) Levina (Lowry), wife, age 19, born TN Harriet E. age 2 months, (daughter) born IL Lowery, Thomas, age 22, born TN, farm hand (this is my great-grandfather who is living in the same household as his married sister)
Over a couple generations, my Lowrys moved from Shawneetown down into Williamson County, IL, and then on to Cobden, Union County, IL by about 1900. I have heard that some of the McGehee/McGee line were living nearby in Cobden. Did any of your people wind up down thatta way?
