People You Should Know
Howard R. and Irene McGillivray
We want to sledge-hammer home this vital truth. St. Charles mothers send their children to the Royal Blue Store, 115 W. Main St., with much the same faith as they send them to school. No higher tribute can be paid any merchandising concern than this, which we pass along to this home-owned concern today. Howard R. McGillivray and Irene, his inspiration, have that honest, whole-hearted, personal way of taking care of the youngsters that accounts for the unshakable affection they are strengthening every day in this community. They carry everything in groceries, baked foods, dairy products, how weather delights and feature fine fruits and vegetable. Deliver anywhere, and your phone order gets the same attention you would get in person. Chicago is where "How" first slid down the banister. His drafting board and a new idea can make him forget his dinner. Gathering watercress int he river and selling it for a nickel a bunch was his first business venture. For 10 years he was contracting engineer for fire protection equipment in Chicago. "Irene" first heard the bluebirds sing in Yorktown. Loves to swim and she'll win you by her smile before you know it. They're home town folks - with a home owned store, honest-to-goodness 100 percenters, and interested in what's good for the home crowd, and we're glad they picked St. Charles for their future home.
