I found a very old cemetery in Springfield, Maine. No one maintaining it, and I do the best I can when I'm up there, but the woods are taking it over (was there this past month).
Anyway...I don't want this history to be lost.
In this cemetery in the front are the resting place of Thomas McGinley and Lydia J. his wife.
Thomas McGinley A Member of Co. E 1st Maine Cavalry Died July 21st 1892 80 years "He sleeps but will in glory rise to life and joy above and join with us beyond the skys. The song of peace and love may his soul rest in peace forever" At the top of the tombstone is a cross at at each point starting at the left is and I, top is an H, the right is an S.
Lydia J. Wife of Thomas McGinley Died October 20, 1911 74 years "Just as the sun decends at eve Soon with fresher beams to rise So shall our Mother dear receive Life enternal in the skies
May I also add that the stones are in wonderful shape.
I really hope this information helps someone in their hunting.
