Looking for information and a link between the McGINTY family in Vigo Co. Indiana in 1839 and the McGINTY family in Jennings Co.
My gggrandparents, John and Sarah McGinty (b. 1799 and 1803 respectfully in IRE) came to US c. 1820s.They had the following children: Ann b. in Fort Edward, NY in 1823; Robert b. 1828 and Sarah b. 1831 in Canada; John b. 1832 in NY, Thomas b. 1837 in Indiana, Samuel b. 1841; William b. 1842 and Jane b. 1845 in IA.There may have been other children between Ann and Robert.
My gggrandfather worked building the Canals which explains the natural progression from NY>CA>NY>IN.It appears that he may have worked the Champlain Canal.
Ann McGinty married James Clarke in 1839 in Vigo County, IN.They moved to IA in 1841 and settled in Jackson County, Washington Township, Clarkstown/Green Island, where James Clarke owned the town.
Ann's parents and siblings first wen to Bowens Prarie in Jones County then settled in Dubuque County, Whitewater Township Cascade the same year.
Wondering if John and Sarah may have had other children that married c. 1839 that stayed in Indiana?
