Robert, My research (and I admit it could be flawed) shows the following information on Joseph Henry McGinty b.12/28/1866 MS) d. unknown married Mary M. Pinkston 12/20/1888. His children are listed as Nellie b.8/18/1899; Clyde Alma b. Unknown; William Joseph b. Unknown; Rosie b. Unknown; Nora b. unknown.
I show Joseph W. McGinty as Thomas B. McGinty b. 7/24/1861 in AR d. 10/9/1900. I would like to know the family history on this branch of the family.
Our Eli is probably a nephew of Thomas and sent many letters to Thomas when he moved to TX. We believe that Eli may have been raised partial by Melissa Mcginty and would then have spent quite a bit of time with Thomas (who we believe is Thomas' mother) who is only 11 years older than Eli who was born in 1855. We have hypothisied that Eli may have been a son of Robert Newton and when he and his wife died (since they are listed in the 1850 census, before Eli's birth). We have not been able to verify this information but we have a copy of Eli's will and obituary and they list his birthplace as Conway, AR. He has no ties to MS so we know he is not a parat of that branch of the family. Family ledgend states that Eli was an orphan and we have found an Eli McGinty living with the H.T. Bradford family in Red River Tnshp. AR aat the age of 16 showing an estate of $500. Eli is shown living with Melissa McGinty and her new husband, Moses House in 1860 census bur the Bradford family in 1870 census. Melissa House probably died prior to 1870 as she is not in the census. Moses is listed as widowed.
