From what I have been able to learn Catherine Lamb was his first wife and when she died he married Mary Ada Driskell, daughter of Sarah "Sally" Bass Driskell and William Henry Driskell of Dooly County, Georgia. Mary Ada and William Dawson McGlamory may have been second or third cousins as the Driskell and McGlamory lines were related or at least the Tillman and Driskell lines once were back in Maryland even before the revolutionary war. Mary Ada had a child, Julia McGlamory in Dec. 1889. Or could have been Nov. Must check my records. Julia died in 1901 in Irwin County, Georgia where she was living at the time with her mother and her step father, Andrew B. Revels. She is buried in the Irwinville Cemetery, Irwin County, GA next to her maternal grandmother, Sarah "Sally" Bass Driskell who died about 1904 (again must check my records for exact dates if you want or need them. On Julias tombstone is envaved the names of her parents:
Little Julia
daughter of
W.D. McGlamory and M.A. McGlamory
From what I have figured out from what is known by McGlamory family and my own line:
William Dawson McGlamory was a widower with one small daughter by his deceased wife, Catherine Lamb who died before 1888. By 1888 he was married to Mary Ada Driskell who may have been a distant cousin he met while visiting with his McGlamory relatives in Dooly County, GA. Forget the man's name who he would visit. At any rate he married Mary Ada (do not know where at this time) and she may have been married once before to a Mr. Anthony Allen Smith who perhaps died and left her a widow. The marriage certificate may be in Macon County, Georgia where William Dawson was a prison guard or it may have been in Dooly county where Mary Ada and her parents lived. They must have gotten a divorce by the time Julia was born or soon after as he then married a Polly Philbun or something like that and later moved to Early County, GA where he lived out his life and later died. I am still trying to find his marriage licence to Mary Ada and also a copy of their divorce decree for I want to know if she was married earlier and if her name is not Driskell on the license then I will know she had been married before her marriage to William Dawson which would tell me that she had three husbands in her lifetime. I do not know about Catherine Lamb but have been in contact with some of William's kin from the third marriage who may be able to tell you who to contact. Jeff Shirrah is also kin to William's line I think. Best wishes, Gloria
