I have no connection to this family, but am posting the info in hopes it will help someone.This appeared in the Metropolis Planet (Metropolis, Massac Co., IL) on January 19, 2005, it appeared in a section entitled, "Yesterday's News".
85 Years Ago, Republican Herald, January 22, 1920:
"Another aged Civil War veteran of unswerving loyalty to the flag has laid down at last to rest in pleasant dreams.MORRIS MCGLASSON, 75, died early last Friday morning at his home at the corner of 7th & Catherine streets.The deceased had for several years suffered from a chronic illness and his death did not come altogether as a surprise. He was a member of Co., "C", 43rd Illinois Infantry and enlisted from Hardin County on September 1, 1861.He was discharged for disability on October 26, 1863.The funeral was preached last Sunday by Rev. Schumard with burial in the Second cemetery [I.O.O.F.] near town.He is survived by two sons - John and Frank.His wife preceded him in death by five weeks."
