As the name PHILIP is quite unusual in McGurn irish names is is quite possible you are related. Also there is the giving of two names to family members, from this I have found 2 generations of my branch. The name of Philip figures quite strongly in my branch lines.
I now have found 5 siblings in grandfathers family. 7 siblings in g grandfathers family and 8 siblings in g g grandfathers family and just g g g grandparents Christopher and Mary McGurn who were born in Ireland in c1814 & c1820 respectively.
For the name Philip I have Philip born 1846 married Jane Annie Owens (my g g grandparents)he had a son called Philip George born 1882. The name Philip has carried on down via Charles Ernest (son of Philip and Jane Annie)who also had a son called Philip. His (Charles)daughter Frances Mary had a son called Philip Donald who is my cousin and lives in Australia. I also have a nephew whose name is Roy Philip.
So you see Philip appears right down my branch lines to today. Incidently when I started out looking for Philip and Jane Annie I had been told he had been born in Ireland but eventually found via the 1861 census that he had been born in Liverpool. I also only last week finally obtained a copy of his birth certificate not in the name of McGurn but McGORRIN although the 1837online.com site shows his name as being registered as McGOURIN!!
If interested e-mail me your e-mail address and I will send you all the names I have confirmed as being on my branch.
