McHale DNA Results - Very Interesting
Results have started to come in on those tested for the McHale Y DNA project. We have partial results on several and so far it is showing a common male ancestor for these families. The results can be seen at:

I had suspected a link between 2 lines, Anthony and William, because they lived next to each other in Cum, Lahardane, at the time of Griffiths Valuation. William is my family and I was fortunate to have found the family of Anthony a few years ago through my genealogy searches (actually they found me!) The others are not from Cum Lahardane although one has a family story that they might have been from Lahardane before moving to an island in Clew Bay sometime before Griffiths!
One family is from Bundoovin, near Parke Turlough, another is from Straide, Foxford.
A few others are planning to order tests soon and I would love to have more McHales tested. It will be interesting to see if it ends up all one family or do we find a split that might be between the Gaelic McHales and the supposed Welsh family Howell who gaelicized their name to McHale.
Take a look at the results and the info on the site re Sept of the Clan Keale who owned land in Cum and elsewhere in Addergoole Parish, Mayo, prior to the land distribution in 1641 by Oliver Cromwell.
