It does not pay to make a supposition to anyone who puts info online. It is almost ALWAYS taken as fact. About Sackville McHone, I am probably the one who was originally questioning the fact that he might have been killed. I was wondering if he was in the Indian raid. That's all. He did die around the time that an Indian raid took place in Halifax County, but there is NOOOOOOO proof that he was killed by Indians. He moved to Halifax in 1754-55 and had disappeared from records by 1756 when Archelaus McHone was bound out by the Russell Parish as a "poor orphan." If anyone wants to find out, help me find the Dinwiddie Papers of Virginia that holds letters written to and from the frontier of VA and Gov. Dinwiddie during the French and Indian War. I read a statement once that said names had been taken of the dead and the living. I have not found such a paper. Please help confirm this story or let it die its own death.
