Sherrii, My abject apologies!I don't know what I was thinking. You're right, I sit corrected.Mary was the daughter of WILLIAM McIlwain and Margaret Davidson and I have the same info on William and Margaret as you do.
Re David McIlwain and Jane Johnston McIlwain, I have the same info as you on David but I have Jane Johnson (without the "t") born 11 Mar 1827 as per 1871 Census of Huron County and as per familysearch.com and she died 20 Feb 1892 in Goderich and was buried in Maitland Cemetery.I don't have a marriage date for them but since their first child of 13 children, Margaret McIlwain, was born Sep 1850, I believe they must have been married around 1849.I could have it wrong but in order to check a lot of info I have, I recently ordered a transcript of the Maitland Cemetery for most sections as well as the index.I expect to receive it in a month or so.
Re David McIlwain, child #9 of David McIlwain and Jane Johnson, I have the same info as you.But I can't remember the site address where I got the marriage info from.Do you have it?
Re David McIlwain and Eliza Wilson: I must be losing my mind!It was JOHN McIlwain who married Eliza Wilson. I am so very sorry I gave you misleading info that night.I have as follows: John McIlwain, son of Samuel McIlwain and Margaret Kilpatrick was born 1835 in Ireland and died in Turnbury, Ontario.I don't know their marriage date but their first child Samuel (who never married) was born 1 Dec. 1858.I am descended from John and my Aunt Marny has his watch fob. It's pewter and has a large amethyst in it.John lived in Wingham, Ontario. Eliza Wilson was born in 1840 as per the 1881 Canada Census and that's all I have for the time being.
2 days ago, I mailed a printout of what I have on Legacy re the McIlwain's to Aunt Marny and I have asked her to check it out and see if she can remember more about the family.
David McIlwain and Eliza Wilson had 8 children, 1 boy Samuel and 7 girls: Agnes b 1862 Catherine "Kate" b 1863 Margaret Jane b 25 Apr 1870 d Apr 1930 in Brantford, Ont Elizabeth Ann b 1872 Martha b 1876 and her twin Mary b 1876 and Jessie b 1880 After Catherine died, the remaining 6 sisters got together with their husbands and had their picture taken.I have a copy of that picture and my grandmother wrote the people's names on it.
