My ancestor Francis Eugene emigrated from County Longford, Ireland to Chatham NB in 1826. His son, Owen, was born in 1820 in Ireland.
Owen worked in Rexton NB in the shipyards of Daniel McAuley, who moved on to New Zealand. Owen married the boss's daugther, Mary McAuley, and they moved to Portland Maine for about a decade. They returned to Rexton where Owen entered politics, becoming a member of the Legislative Council in 1869, a position he held until 1890.
Owen and Mary had four boys and a girl. Mary was the second cousin of Andrew Bonar Law, the first Canadian PM of the UK. Mary died in 1861 and Owen married a second time, to Jane Burns, and had three children, Edward, Mary, and William. Jane Burns was also related to Bonar Law.
George, born on Valentines Day 1857, and named George Valentine, went to Laval, BU, and Harvard Law, setting up a practice in Richibucto NB and representing Kent County at the provincial and federal levels. He married Christina O'Leary.
His sons were Harry (Judge of the NB Probate Court, who had, I believe 11 children), Edward Blake (Director, Royal Bank of Canada), George (Jesuit), (+ 2 more) and daughters Grace (no children, unmarried) (+1 more).
Another of Owen's sons was James (B 1859) who went to McGill and opened medical practice in St. John in 1894.
There are many of George Valentine's descendents though few carry his name. George and Grace had no children. All of Harry's but one, Harry (still living in St. John), were girls. Edward Blake moved to Paris in 1924, to London in 1929, and never returned. Thus the name is hard to fine in NB today.
Edward Blake had three children by wife Eleanore Foster: Frances (dec'd as a baby), Owen Francis (D 2004), Blake Valentine (never married, no kids, D 2005), and Jeanne Eleanore Christina (married, step children, living in the UK). (see a pattern here?)
Owen Francis had four children by Pamela Green. Francis Owen Edward George B UK 1950 (I think they hit me with all of them in a straight line!), Lorraine Veronica B UK 1952 (did they forget someone?) Alison Mary B Canada 1958 (started to lose it badly), and Adrian Patrick B Paris 1964 (out of control!)
Alison died in 1992. Lorraine (Bennett, two children Robin and Rebecca) lives in Vancouver. I live outside NYC and have two children, Alexa and Chris. Adrian lives in Burlington ON (married, no kids).
The font of all family knowledge is Harry and I rely on him to fill in all the blanks.
