I have been working on my theory that John and Margaret McCamey's daughter Margaret married first Arthur Alexander who died ca 1763 in Mecklenburg Co, NC, and then married James Wilson whose first wife, a Patton, had died.
After my last post, I found on an Internet site that a 1938 book, Series II of "REGISTER of MARYLAND'S HERALDIC FAMILIES", by Alice Norris Parran, stated that Arthur Alexander, d. 1763, m. "Margaret McKamy".
John McCamey's LW&T referes to a daughter who married an Alexander, but does not give her name. I have been using NC records to make the identification. The fact that Arthur Alexander's estate was executed in part by his widow who was by then Margaret Wilson was a clue.
My big hope is that the inventory of John McCamey's estate is available in Carlise, PA, and has more names.
But the case has not been made airtight.
As I said, the general belief is that the Carolina McKemeys did not come by way of PA. But the fact that Andrew Jackson's widowed mother, whose sister was married to George McKemey, removed herself and young Andy to the widow Wilson's near Charlotte during a bad point in the War, suggests some connection. Someday, when I get the case together, I'll post the details so that no one will have to work through this morass again.
