Thanks for your information that led me to the parents of John Houston's wife--Nancy???
First, let me tell you what I knew: my gggrandfather DAVID LOGAN (b. 1808 in KY) married (1830 in Montgomery Co IN) NANCY A. HOUSTON (b. 1809 in KY).Nancy is the daughter of JOHN HOUSTON (b. 1759 in VA) married NANCY ??? .John Houston died in 1832 in Palestine, Crawford Co., IL.In his will he identified three daughters: PEGGY RAMSEY, JANE FULLENWIDER, and NANCY LOGAN. All searches for the maiden name of their mother led nowhere, until I ventured into the Fullenwider Family Genealogy Forum. When I read the information about Samuel Fullenwider, I was excited because the dates and locations matched and a possible Mackey in the line.
Next, I began searching for MACKEE—any way you spell it. In the MCKEE Forum, I found two leads:“JOHN MCKEE is the cousin of GENERAL SAM HOUSTON.”I knew that our JOHN HOUSTON was also a cousin, so I answered.I also found an entry for COL JAMES MCKEE which gave the descendants of ALEXANDER MCKEE; it included Nancy Agnes. Those led me to several Web Sites where I verified that NANCY AGNES MCKEE married Rev. JAMES WILSON.He died in 1802 in KY.
Widow Nancy McKee Wilson then married John Houston.Their 3 girls were born in KY.At some point they moved to Crawfordsville, Montgomery Co., IN.They are mentioned in minutes of the Presbyterian Church there.Daughter Nancy A. Houston married David Logan there in 1830.
Parents John and Nancy Agnes Houston along with David and Nancy A. Logan moved to Palestine, Crawford Co., IL where all are buried in Palestine Cemetery. Because of your help, I now have this line going back to 1672 in Ireland. THANKS A MILLION! Mary Erickson
