Our understanding is that David McKee came with his brothers to America in the 1700's. David became friendly with Queen Alliquippa the Indian princess whose tribe inhabited the area which now encompasses McKeesport.David took out a warrant for the land but never patented it.Years later, his son John, after some financial reverses, went down to that area, patented the land, and laid out the city of McKeesport. The advertisements for the lottery for the lots was in the Pittsburgh paper so it can be documented as well as his patent for the land.We have actual dates this took place if you're interested. I also have traced my line from John through his son Thomas and his son Robert to his daughter Annie who is my great-grandmother. I have been to the old "McKee" burial ground which is going to be a highway shortly. Does anyone have any information about the McKee connection to the Shawnee Indians or about the McKee wives?
