According to my records, Robert Alexander McKEE, b. 3 Oct 1895 in Versailles, Woodford county, KY, was the son of Robert McKEE (b. 4 Mar 1754, Kerr's Creek, Rockbridge county, VA) and Jane JACK (JACQUE). Robert McKEE was the son of John McKEE and Jane LOGAN. Jane JACK was a second marriage for Robert. There were two children by his first marriage to Margaret HAMILTON and four by his marriage to Jane JACK - including Robert Alexander McKEE. The first cousins marrying were William McKEE and Miriam McKEE. Their daughter Polly (Mary) McKee married John Armstrong LAPSLEY and she was the mother of Amanda LAPSLEY who married Robert Alexander McKEE. At that time the Presbyterian faith considered it o.k. for first cousins to marry - but the Methodist faith didn't. My own McKEE great grandparents were first cousins - they were married in 1857 in Missouri. Some of these families are so hard to keep track of because of the intermarriages and the common names. I wonder if we can blame any of our health and mental problems on these intermarriages? It would be nice to blame them on someone! I also descend from John McKEE and Jane LOGAN.
