Dobbie, first off it's BACK Creek (B-a-c-k).
Here's what you're looking for (or, at least some of it!)
Most of this was researched and confirmed by Wilmer L. Kerns, PhD, "Historical Records of Old Frederick and Hampshire Counties, Virginia".Starts with:
Robert Mckee, b. abt 1738 Ireland, D. 16 Oct 1800 on Timber Ridge, Frederick County, VA.He m. Elizabeth Ferguson(?), b. est.1740-1745, d. 15 Mar 1790.
They had 11 children:Mary, Margaret, Robert, William,
John Ferguson, Joseph, Bartholomew, Elizabeth, Jane, Ann, Sarah.
Son Joseph b. 1777, d. 1852.
m. Elizabeth Reed/Reid 5 Feb 1799, dau of Jeremiah and Elizabeth McMahon Reed/Reid.
They lived near High View, and later on both sides of Timber Ridge. Both buried in Bethel Cemetery, Trone, Frederick County, VA.They had at least nine children including:
Robinson Joseph, b. 5 Dec 1819 on Back Creek (possibly Gore vicinity), Frederick County, VA, d. 9 Jan 1906, Lathrop, MO.
m. Maria Sommerville, b. 27 Jan 1818, Bloomery, Hampshire County, VA (now WV), d. 12 Jan 1906.Both buried in Lathrop (MO) Cemetery. They had nine children, most of whom stayed in Missouri.
Son Theodore, b. 12 Feb 1853, Bloomery, d. 17 Jan 1935, Jefferson, OR, was the one who went to Oregon. He married Katherine Lynes. My mother visited with them in 1914-5. I've done no research whatever on Theodore.
Another son, George Alexander, b. 8 Aug 1845, Bloomery, d. 5 Mar 1923, Hannibal, MO, was my maternal g-grandfather.He married Henrietta Meriba Sprague, b. 28 Jan 1849, Marietta, Ohio, d. 2 Nov 1926, Hannibal, MO.Both buried Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hannibal, MO.
I hope this helps.
