The following information is included in a message on Genforum Morrison Family Board at #3155:
(Quote) The Morrison brothers moved to the Rocky River Community on the waters of Mckee and Ready Creeks (halfway between present day cities of Charlotte and Concord) in Mecklenburg (Now Cabarrus) County, North Carolina, where the last 7 children were born. The Morrisons helped build the Rocky River Presbyterian Church, served as elders and officers, and the families and their descendents are still known to this community as the "Rocky River Morrisons".(end of quote)
McKee and Ready Creeks as mentioned above are in present day Cabarrus County if I read the above quote correctly.(Is that true?)Does anyone know who is the McKee that this creek was/is named for?It seems this creek was already named McKee some time around 1764 in a recorded deed.
There are at least two marriages between Morrison and McKee:
Margaret Morrison, daughter of Niell Morrison, is listed as Margaret Morrison Mckee in the 1781 will of Niell Morrison which was proved in 1784 at Mecklenburg Co NC.
And, on Rowan Co NC Rootsweb forum a message dtd 5 Mar 1998 by Nicole May titled "MCKEE, MORRISON" says in part ".....seeking parents/ancestors of Martha Morrison who married John? McKee and lived in Rowan Co NC.Her son, William McKee was born in Iredell Co NC in 1791....."
Is the above the same Morrison and McKee line as also found in Mecklenburg Co NC?
Ambrose and Samuel McKee are listed in PIERCE'S REGISTER as being in the SALISBURY District.Does this district somehow connect to the areas mentioned above?Does anyone know of the given name AMBROSE being connected to any of these eary McKee families prior to their coming to what is listed as Mecklenburg County NC?
